  • The club was formed in 1996 by Paul Parker and joined the Manx football league Division Two in 1996/97 season. Only a first team was entered.

  • Our first game was away to Michael United which we lost 6-0.

  • The clubs first ever goalscorer was Enzo Ciappelli who scored at home to Marown on 27th August 1996.

  • Our first victory was at home to St. John's in the FA Cup on 11th January 1997. The score was 4-1, with Mike Cowin bagging a hat-trick. We were the first new club to progress to the next round in their first season.

  • The Combination team was only added a year later for kick off for the 1997/98 season.

  • The club changed its name from Barclays FC to Douglas & District FC in time for the 2002/2003 season.

  • The last match under the name of Barclays FC was a 3-0 away win over Michael United in Combination Two on 13th April 2002. Paul Guiver, Nigel Paul and Shaun Gritton scored the goals in the second half.

  • The first league match under the name of Douglas & District was a 3-1 defeat at St. John's in Division Two on 24th August 2002. James McIlhagga scored the first goal under the new name, with Brian Duffy saving a Nick Hurt penalty.

  • The first FA Cup match under the name of Douglas & District was a 4-1 victory against Ronaldsway on 4th January 2003

  • We beat RYCOB in their first ever first team match at Scoill Ree Gorree on 22/8/09, with a 3-2 victory courtesy of a Steve Wilson penalty, Scott Webster and substitute Darren Armstrong's goals.

  • Our first penalty shoot out was in the FA Cup 1st Round v RYCOB at home, 26/1/13. 1-1 at FT, 2-2 AET, we won the shoot out 4-2. Jamie Spicer, David McDaid, Ryan Downey and Daniel Stewart-Clague scored all 4 of our penalties, with Andy Courcey saving one. We progressed to our first ever 1st team cup quarter final against Laxey.

  • Andy Courcey and Jamie Spicer were the first ever D&D players to be named in the Isle of Man Newspapers Team of the Week, from the FA Cup match above 26/1/13. The closest we came before that was goalkeeper Paul Surgeon, despite us getting beat 9-1 by DHSOB!

  • Our first win over a top flight side was in the Hospital Cup v Castletown 14th April 2013, with a 2-1 win despite playing half of the 2nd half with 10 men after Jamie Spicer saw red for bringing a player down last man. Daniel Stewart-Clague and Richard Brant scored the goals to put us into our first ever Hospital Cup quarter final, and meaning we played 3 consecutive rounds of a cup competition for the first time. We lost against Union Mills in the quarter final.

  • Andy Courcey became the first D&D player to be called up to an Isle of Man Representative side, and made his debut in a friendly for the Masters (Veterans) against the IOM under 18s on 19th March 2013.

  • Manny Kaneen was the first D&D player to score a hat-trick on his debut. He scored 3 in the combi away to Foxdale on 22nd February 2014.

  • Robert McCowliff was the first D&D player to score a 4 goals on his debut. He scored 4 in the first team at home v Michael on 5th September 2015.

  • Our first ever trophy was the Under 9s Office World Cup, coming from 3-1 down at half time to defeat Marown 5-3 in the final on 26th September 2015.

  • Ethan Hawley, Beren Colley & Nathan Robinson became our first juniors (Under 9s) to play for an Isle of Man Respresentative side, they all started the 4-1 defeat by Everton on 17th October 2015. Nathan Robinson put the Isle of Man 1-0 ahead, and was the first D&D player to score for the Isle of Man.

  • Our first win for the combi over a top flight side was in the Junior Cup v Braddan 14th April 2019, with a 5-0 win against Braddan. Mark Quirk 3, Owen Stewart and Konrad Kumor scored the goals to put us into our second ever Junior Cup quarter final. We lost against Corinthians in the quarter final.

  • Daniel Stewart-Clague was the first ever D&D player to be named in the FA Cup Player of the Round, from the FA Cup match v Union Mills 7th January 2023.


First Team
 

  • Our first game was away to Michael on the 24th August 1996, which we lost 6-0.

  • Our biggest defeat stand at an embarrassing 16-0 at the hands of Colby on 7th September 1996.

  • The first player to see red was Phil Ward on the 10th September 1996 at home to Foxdale.

  • The first player booked for the first team was Graham Palmer on 28th September 1996 away to St. John's.

  • Our first victory was at home to St. John's in the FA Cup on 11th January 1997. The score was 4-1, with Mike Cowin bagging a hat-trick.

  • Mathew Bartlett, Lawrence Looney, Jon Conroy and Robert McCowliff (on his debut) have scored the most goals in 1 game, scoring 4.

  • It took 6 years, but the 6-0 victory against Braddan on 21st September 2002 put our goal difference in the plus for the first time.

  • Our largest victory was over Malew on the first day of the season (Carl Lace forgets which!), we stuffed them 11-0.

  • Our highest league position is 7th, in the 2021/2022 season (out of 12).

  • Our top goalscorer in one season is Daniel Stewart-Clague, who bagged 28 goals in 28 games in 2017/2018.


Combination Team
 

  • The combination team was formed a year after the first team in time for the season of 1997/98.

  • The combi's first game was away to Marown on the 23rd August 1997, we lost 9-1.

  • Lee Costello was the first ever goalscorer for the combination team during a 9-1 drumming from Marown on the 23rd August 1997.

  • Biggest defeat fell against Ramsey on the 30th August 1997, we got battered 16-0.

  • We battered Jurby 16-0 on the 15th January 2005 which is the combi's biggest victory to date. Mathew Bartlett scored 9, the most goals scored by a D&D player in one game. Steven McIntosh 4, Clive Hesketh 2 and Scott Keable scored the others.

  • Highest league position was during the season of 2018/19, we finished 4th out of 13.

  • Our top goalscorer in one season is Mark Quirk, who bagged 29 goals in 17 games in 2018/2019.

  • Most goals in a single came were scored by Mathew Bartlett against Jurby on the 15th January 2005, he managed to bag 9. Tony Stewart scored 4 at home to the Police on the 27th October 2001.

  • Phil Ward was the first player booked away to St. John's on 27th September 1996.

  • The first combi player to see red was Craig Atton at home to Corinthians on 5th December 1998.

  • The furthest the club have progressed in the Junior Cup was the quarter finals (2nd round) in 2003/04 and 2018/19.

  • Our first combi Junior Cup penalty shoot out was away at Ayre United in the preliminary round, 6/4/13. 0-0 at FT, 1-1 AET, we lost the shoot out 4-2. Ash Humphrey and Darren Armstrong scored, Rob Callister and Cye Maddocks missed, with Niall Quiggin saving one.

  • The longest winning streak for the combi was 8 games in a row in the 2018/19 season.

  • The longest unbeaten streak for the combi was 10 games, lasting 144 days in the 2018/19 season.


Masters (Veterans) Team
 

  • The veterans team was formed in time for the season of 2011/12.

  • The vets' first game was against Colby at the newly refurbished Bowl Stadium on the 9th October 2011, we lost 2-0.

  • Rob Callister was the first player booked away to Ayre United on 4th December 2011.

  • Paul Kenna was the first ever goalscorer for the veterans team during a 3-1 defeat by RYCOB on the 8th January 2012.

  • The vets' first victory was against Ronaldsway on the 22nd January 2012. The score was 1-0, with Paul Kenna scoring the goal.

  • Our biggest defeat stand at an embarrassing 10-0 at the hands of Ayre United on 23rd September 2012.

  • Peter Kirkham and Robert Corrin have scored the most goals in 1 game, scoring 4.

  • Our first Masters FA Cup penalty shoot out was against Corinthians at the Bowl in the preliminary round, 9/2/14. 0-0 at FT, straight to penalties where we won 4-1. We scored all of our penalties from Paul Craig, Paul Shimmin, Bruce Parkinson and Peter Kirkham scoring, with Andy Courcey saving one. This was the first Masters cup match we played, after being unable to field a team against Peel in the Preliminary Round of the 2012/13 season.

  • Our most goals scored in a match was against RYCOB on the 11th October 2015, we won 10-4.

  • Our largest victory was over Marown on the 5th February 2017, we won 9-0.

  • Our top goalscorer in one season is Konrad Kumor, who bagged 12 goals in 9 games in 2016/17.

  • Our highest league position is 5th (out of 10), in the 2016/2017 season.

  • The furthest the club have progressed in the Masters FA Cup was the final in 2016/17. We beat Marown 3-1 at The Bowl in the semi final. We progressed to our first ever semi final v Colby, where we lost 2-0.

  • Paul Camarda was awarded man of the match in the Masters FA Cup final in 2016/17, the first D&D player to do so.

  • The first veterans player to see red was Peter Kirkham against Governors Athletic at the Bowl on 11th February 2018. Richard Delaney was also sent off in the same game.


Cowell Cup
 

  • The club entered a team in the 2013 Cowell Cup for the first time, drawn in an 8 team group 2.

  • Our first Cowell Cup game was against RYCOB at home on 4th April 2013, we lost 5-0. Davis Taylor was sent off, our first red card in the competition!

  • Davis Taylor was also the first ever goalscorer for the Cowell Cup team during a 2-2 draw against Ronaldsway on the 15th April 2013.

  • The first point was in the same game against Ronaldway, and they also drew 1-1 with St. Georges on the 2nd May 2013.

  • The first win was against Marown on 30th April 2015. The score was 1-0 (also our first clean sheet) with Brian Tung getting the goal.

Walking Football
 

  • The veterans team was formed in time for the season of 2020.

  • Our first walking football game was against AFC Zimmer at home on 16th February 2020, we won 5-0.

  • In the same match, the first goalscorer was Dave Quirk.

  • Richard Delaney received the first ever red card for the walking football team during a 5-1 win against Governors Athletic on the 6th September 2020.

  • Our highest league position is 2nd (out of 6), in the 2020 season.

  • Most goals in a single came were scored by Tony Stewart against Corinthians on the 8th August 2021 and 12th September 2021, he managed to bag 6.

  • Our largest victory was over Corinthians on the 12th September 2021, we won 10-5.


Springfield Road
 

  • Our last game was the first team against RYCOB on 1st May 2010, which we won 2-0.

  • In the same match, the last goalscorers were Lawrence Looney and David McDaid.

  • Our last combi game was against Onchan on 27th March 2010, which we lost 6-0.

  • The last goalscorer for the combi was Dave Mathieson who scored in a 2-1 win against Pulrose United on 20th February 2010.


Garey Mooar
 

  • Our first game was the first team against RYCOB on 14th August 2010, which we lost 4-1.

  • The first goalscorer was a RYCOB player scoring an own goal!

  • In the same match, the first D&D goal was a Chris Bowers own goal!

  • Paul Craig and Matthew Beattie also received red cards in the same match.

  • The first goalscorer for the first team by a D&D player was Richard Brant, in a 4-2 defeat to Pulrose United on 21st August 2010

  • The first goalscorer for D&D by a D&D player was Darren Armstrong, in a 4-2 combi defeat to St. John's on 17th August 2010.


Noble's Park
 

  • Our first game was the combi against RYCOB on 6th November 2010, which we lost 5-2.

  • In the same match, the first goalscorer was Nigel Paul.

  • The first goalscorer for the first team was a Darren Armstrong own goal! In a 10-0 defeat to St. John's on 4th December 2010.

  • The first goalscorer for the first team by a D&D player was Daniel Stewart-Clague, in a 4-1 (after extra time) defeat to Foxdale in the FA Cup on 8th January 2011.


The Bowl
 

  • Our first game was the first team against Michael United on 4th September 2021, which we won 5-3.

  • In the same match, the first goalscorer was Danny Shuttleworth.
